LIAR, LIAR

I really am getting very tired of liars. From the White House to the IRS to the candidates for public office. From weasels like Nixon and Clinton I could understand it. Now it seems everybody thinks its okay to lie and lie about everything.

I have listened as IRS Commissioner John Koskinen continued to speak his “talking points” in an apparent effort to take the heat off both the IRS and the White House. I listened as the Congressional investigators accused him to his face that he was lying. The Commissioner didn’t even seem to be concerned that he was accused of this breach. He didn’t even blink. It seems that lying has become acceptable.

Well perjury is never passe. I just saw a poll that showed 76% of voters, including Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, believe the IRS is lying about the missing e-mails written by Lois Lerner and others. A vast majority of Americans believe that this investigation should continue until all the facts are known. Unless and until the IRS clears up this violation of law, public trust in this most important agency will disappear. If you think we have had financial problems in the past just imagine if people refused to comply with what Sen. Harry Reid calls voluntary income tax payment.

Just look back a few years at some examples of lying and what that lying has caused. Both Nixon and Clinton learned quickly that, as is always the case, the cover up is worse than the original act. Nixon had to resign in disgrace. Clinton even lied to a Grand Jury which led to his disbarment as a lawyer. As we used to say, his mother must be truly proud. Clinton came within a whisker of being kicked out of office.

Today the clowns in Washington haven't seemed to learn anything. Lying is the order of the day. Look at Benghazi. The official story was concocted in the White House and out went the minions to try and sell it. Of course we have all now learned that the official story was just a preposterous lie designed to take heat off of Obama. Today those lies continue  now to take the heat off of Hillary.

And speaking of Hillary. According to the new book by Edward Klein, Blood Feud, the Clintons vs the Obamas, Hillary has some serious health issues. She may well be incapable of serving as President or in any capacity because of heart valve problems as well as brain tumors. She can lie about it but the truth will be found out.

VA officials will be held accountable for the deceit they have perpetrated on the American people. No amount of lying will make that go away. All lying is bad but what the VA has done is despicable.

Remember the Aesop fable of the boy who cried wolf? He lost his credibility by lying and when the wolf really did come, no one would help.  An analysis of the fable has as its final sentence, “There is no believing a liar, even when he speaks the truth.”

This is what I know. All of the lies will be found out. All of the deceit will be discovered. All of the guilty parties will be punished. We will soon have a new administration and a new Attorney General. There will be no place to hide. Everything everybody in Washington says is recorded somewhere. My old grandpa used to say, “Keep your words soft and sweet. Someday you may have to eat them.” Never has that been truer than today.

Are you as tired of liars as I am? Remember these are our employees. How much will you put up with? Liar, liar, pants on fire…..

IN WAR THERE ARE NO TIES, ONLY WINNERS AND LOSERS

Iraq is heating up again. Are you surprised? I’m not. It really is very simple. A war is not over until one side wins and the other side loses. If a country, for political reasons, decides to pull out or “cut and run,” that may end their involvement for a time but it doesn’t end the war.

At some point we decided that Iraq was worth our effort enough to spend billions in money, thousands in American lives, and years in time to defend. For political reasons and because of pressure from leftists like the New York Times and MSNBC, we decided to leave Iraq before our job was done. Listen, I love it when we can bring our soldiers home, but only when the job is done. Now that miserable little country is left to the radical killers who do not represent any country, carry no flag and who do not recognize any country’s border. These are not people with whom one can negotiate or establish treaties. These are blood thirsty baby killers whose only goal seems to be a worldwide domination using their sick interpretation of an ancient religion as justification.

America and her Western allies have always fought clean, civilized wars. We recognize basic rules of human decency. Sadly we are facing an enemy who does not follow any such rules. They don’t have the intelligence to understand that they have absolutely no chance of any victory if we decide to stop them. Our problem is really quite simple. We have not decided yet to stop them and end this war.

World War II lasted five years and our enemy was convincingly destroyed. We and our allies took all the fight out of them. We made it clear to them that they had lost. Peace treaties were signed and the war ended.

Our current involvement in the Middle East is going on thirteen years with no end in sight. Our citizens are weary of this war but our enemy hasn’t begun to get it. They still think it is just a matter of time when they will win and take over the entire world and all will bow down to their prophet. You and I know that is never going to happen but we still have to convince our government to bring this war to an end.

This is what we are going to have to do to end it. We have to take the fight out of them. We have to kill enough of them to convince them that all that is left is to die for a lost cause. We are told that they don’t care. Whatever. War against this type of enemy is a lot like capital punishment. We may not teach the offender that we execute anything, but at least he cannot kill again. When enough are killed, their forces are reduced to a point of complete ineffectiveness. To those who would say that there would be too much collateral damage, I submit that the more breeders we take out, the less likely more killer radicals will be produced. In addition, we must punish any country or government that gives safe harbor to these thugs.

To some this may seem harsh. To them I would ask, do you have a better idea? Do you really think these radical Islamist fundamentalists are going to just quit and go back to goat herding?

President George W. Bush said after 9-11 that the radical Islamists decided when this war would start and we will decide when it ends. It will be over when we say it is over. It is entirely up to us and our resolve. In war there are no ties, only winners and losers. It is up to us which we will be.

HOW MUCH LONGER?

We are being told that Obama was surprised that the country wasn’t dancing in the streets when Bergdahl was released by the Taliban. We are being told that his whole brain trust thought this was going to be a great political victory that would take all of the scandals off the front pages. On to big wins in the mid-term elections with new found energy. Oops.

It would be easy enough to suggest that they didn’t check out this soldier before they jumped into the deal but I think it is much worse than that. The Obama Administration is made up of college preppies who have never put on the uniform of their country. They don’t have a clue as to what the military is all about. I heard the other day that these people think desertion on the battlefield is like skipping school.

Most of the males of my generation either served or at the very least knew someone very close who served. When we were young we knew that we either joined up or we would be drafted. Most of us didn’t enter the military for any particular patriotic reason. Most just wanted to do their duty and get it over with. As for me, I wanted adventure. I had lived my young life in relative safety and security and wanted to see what the world was like. The military was a quick way to get away from home and see the world.

As a young recruit I was taught the rules and I was taught the consequences.  One of the most important rules I learned was that a soldier never, and I mean never, deserts his post. Deserting on the battlefield is punishable by death, period. Every soldier who has been through basic training knows and understands this law. I learned the “Uniform Code of Military Justice” as every soldier learns. There is no nuance in these rules and laws.

While serving my initial enlistment I also learned that the military was not the life for me but I am eternally grateful for the experience. I entered as a boy of seventeen and got out three years later as a man. As a veteran I continue today to reap the benefits of my service.

So the Obama Administration has traded five Taliban generals for one soldier who by all accounts is a deserter. The New York Times, in an effort to try and justify this abomination, has written that Bergdahl probably deserted because people in his unit weren’t nice to him and there was lax discipline. They want you to believe that the Army, not Bergdahl, is responsible for his desertion. That, dear readers, is a load of crap. In their zeal to carry the water for this unbelievably incompetent administration, they are willing to indict anybody and everybody to make this go away. Sorry, New York Times, this is not going away.

What should happen next is for Bergdahl to be tried by Court Martial and if he is found guilty, punished as the law allows. If it is found that he collaborated with the enemy, he should be tied to a stake and shot through his head.

Sadly we can’t court martial the Obama Administration. We can, however, continue to add up the screw-ups and incompetent acts. We can ask the voters if this is the kind of government they want. Even as skeptical as I am, I cannot believe the voters will not hold all this against the Democrats. It is not necessary to list the scandals again, but it is helpful to be aware that no one in this Administration seems to be learning. How much longer can we put up with this? How much longer will we?

ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER SCANDAL

Okay, here it is. Another week, another scandal. Before the VA mess can even clear itself from the front pages, Obama faces the press with great news. We have managed to get the Taliban to release the last prisoner they had held for five years. Never mind that we had to exchange five murdering terrorist Taliban leaders for this one soldier, we got him back. On the face of it, it sounds like great news, but, and of course there is a but, now we are hearing the rest of the story.

Reports are surfacing that the soldier, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, wasn’t just a prisoner of war. It seems that five years ago he deserted his post, left his weapon behind, and left a letter explaining that he had become disillusioned with the Army and America. He apparently was either captured or turned himself over to the Taliban. We didn’t forget about him though. Regardless of the circumstance of his desertion, we still have been looking for him. Over these past five years we have tried to find him. In fact we are told that at least six soldiers have been killed in the search and it could be many more. Bergdahl is currently in Germany in a hospital being treated for who knows what and is being hidden from the prying eyes of the press and the American people. We are being told that he no longer speaks nor understands English. He was sporting the requisite Taliban beard, as was his father at the press conference. Oh, and his father offered a prayer in some Middle Eastern language praising Allah for his return. It’s probably nothing, but it did get my attention.

Like you, I don’t know the circumstance of his desertion or the swap that got him back. These are the things that I do know.

First, Obama violated the law by swapping prisoners without a thirty day notice to the Congress. He tells us that because Bergdahl was in failing health they didn’t have the opportunity to wait the necessary thirty days. It is possible that he is telling the truth, but there is an even greater possibility that Bergdahl is perfectly healthy and Obama is lying. This is probably just another political act trying to change the subject. After all, he has a lot of reasons to try to change the subject. The VA mess is just heating up and it is going to get a lot uglier before it is resolved.

Benghazi is going to be vetted and that truth is going to be told. There is no place for this administration to hide. The IRS scandal is going to be completely out in the open. Like in the VA mess and the Benghazi lack of action, there will be criminal indictments and people are going to jail.

The problem with this swap deal is that we seem to have traded five terrorists for a deserter while a Marine Sgt. sits in a Mexican jail for committing the crime of making a wrong turn at the border. And no one in the Administration has said a word about that situation.

I understand that nothing is a fact yet concerning Bergdahl. But, if it turns out that he truly deserted his post and we released five killers to get him back, that isn’t going to look very good for Obama, huh? Either this Administration is completely incompetent or they are purposely releasing terrorists to empty Gitmo. Which scenario do you prefer? And all you Democrats hanging on his coattails, are you paying attention? Are you hearing what America is saying? It might be time to head for the hills.
