I'VE READ THE BOOK AND I KNOW HOW IT ENDS

War has been declared on religion in general and on Christianity specifically. The left wing progressive liberal movement has decided that they prefer to worship the god of big government. Along with them are the radical environmentalists. They have attempted to advance the Godless and arrogant theory of man-caused global warming with the idea that man is in charge of nature instead the other way around with man being subject to the laws of nature. One would think if you are hugging a tree, you would realize that man cannot, and has never been able to, create a tree. Just a thought.

 

As a rule I have tried to stay away from religious matters in my columns. I have always believed that one’s religion is very private and personal and should remain that way. That having been said, and since we are in one of the most holy seasons of the year for Christians, something needs to be said about Christmas in the face of this war. As for me and my house, Christmas is the “Mass of Christ.” While we have a joyous time with the tree, the presents, and the great music, in the final analysis Christmas is a celebration of the birth of the Christ child. We never forget that and encourage you to do the same.

 

In a recent poll, some 67% of those polled proclaim Christianity as their religion. Christians don’t deny anybody else whatever religion they choose. In fact Christians even tolerate those with no religion, the atheists. Christians are not at war with anybody. All we have ever asked is that non-Christians tolerate our beliefs as well. Whether you choose to celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday or a secular holiday, that is your choice. Please have the grace to tolerate our choice of celebration.

 

I believe I know the truth. I further believe that someday we all will know the truth. If you would rather hug a tree or even a politician as your religion, that’s okay with me. Just leave me and mine alone to our choice as to whom we will hug.

 

A short time ago I had the very good fortune of visiting with a gentleman who was a retired preacher and a sufferer of terminal heart disease. Some of you might remember him from the web. He was Tommie Joiner or, as he was known to his blog readers, Bo Lumpkin. He knew his time on this earth was short. In fact I learned just today that he had died last month.  I asked him then how he was dealing with his condition and the fact that he may soon die? His answer was both simple and profound. He said, “In many ways I’m looking forward to it because I have read the Book and I know how it ends.” Well I too have read the Book and I also know how it ends. I recommend the Book for your reading. There is a great deal of comfort in knowing how it will all end.

 

I hope as you look forward to Christmas that you will find comfort and peace. Comfort and peace in the knowledge that we are not alone and that a force much greater than mere man is in control.

 

I will leave you with this quote which was recently sent to me. “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” That pretty much says it all.

WE CAN REBUILD BUT WE HAVE TO GET TO WORK

We had our chance and we blew it. Now we have to put up with Biden and his liberal lefties for a few more years. Having the House at least puts Pelosi out to pasture. A strong united Republican majority in the House will also make Biden's agenda a bit more difficult. A way to make it even more difficult will be when impeachment articles are presented. When it is proven that Biden took bribes from sworn enemies of America, even Democrats will have a hard time defending him. Those investigations must begin immediately. This country has waited long enough. 

 

Just based on the info on the "laptop", that should be enough for indictments of many high up in Biden's Administration as well as Biden himself. Republicans were not returned to power in the House for any other reason than to clean house. Now they need to get to it.

 

We have another election on the horizon and I fully expect to see major changes in the majorities. It is looking more and more like Biden is trying to talk himself into running for another term. Being 82 myself, I can tell you unequivocally that he is too old for the office of President. I believe if he does decide to run again, he will lose dramatically. That should embarrass the Democrats to a point that they take their collective heads out of the sand and pay attention to what the American people want and expect from their leadership. It is pretty obvious we aren't getting it now. 

 

The elephant in the room is, of course, Trump. Personally, I believe he was one of our greatest Presidents of modern time. But, and this is a big but, too many people with too much money and too much power will do anything in their power to prevent his being elected again. The simple reason is that he won't play their games and that makes him a threat to their agenda.

 

The Republicans have a valid answer. He is Ron DeSantis. He is an attractive conservative who is loved by the citizens of Florida. He's young, smart, and a military veteran. I do not believe the Democrats have a competitor for DeSantis. The Governor of California is dreaming if he thinks he's the man. He is lucky to have survived a recent recall election. It is truly hard for me to believe that a majority of Americans want to turn our country into California. 

 

For our very survival we must put adults back in charge. We must re-activate our fossil fuel industry, and we must make sure the world knows we are back. Putin and his ilk need to get out of their neighbor's countries and just fix their own. 

 

It took Biden less than two years to destroy most of what Trump built. We can rebuild but we have to get to work.

THE GROUND WORK IS LAID

Well, the midterms are finished, the Republicans did okay, and Trump announces that he is a candidate for President in 2024. Why he would put himself and his family through all that again is a mystery to me, but he has announced.

 

Trump was truly one of the most effective presidents in my lifetime to be sure. But I would prefer he not run again. I believe he will have difficulty being elected. The "deep state" and the national media are going to do everything in their power to make sure he doesn't win. For some reason, they hate him and they are afraid of him. Maybe that's the reason they hate him. 

 

Less than a week after his announcement, our esteemed Attorney General, Merrick Garland, announced that he had appointed a "special prosecutor" to investigate the former president. That was quick. Now does anyone really believe this country needs to spend millions of dollars investigating the most investigated man on earth? And does anyone really believe any criminal charges will come out of this investigation? No, this is an effort on the part of a few self-appointed big shots to control who will be our next President. They know they have nothing but that is not going to stop them. They just don't want him to be President again. 

 

Well, I have some bad news for these clowns in the Justice Dept. and the FBI. You could be stopped this time. This time by a Republican House who is going to do a little investigating of their own. Oh, and guess what? The House controls the purse strings and will not fund any more political witch hunts. 

 

All of the upper echelon of Justice and State better get their records together because they all are going to be called to testify before Congressional Committees and will have to prove they are worthy of their jobs very soon.

 

One of the first things they will be asked is how the investigation of Hunter Biden and "the big guy" is going? Here we have real and actual crimes which have never been looked at by authorities. Sadly, this investigation is going to happen. I say sadly because I sincerely believe Joe Biden is up to his ears in dirty dealings with sworn enemies of America. He is compromised and his decisions show it. Once again innocent citizens will suffer because of the greed of a few. Nobody wins if Biden is found to be guilty of criminal activity. 

 

The good news is that we have laid the groundwork to bring about necessary change. A Republican majority is a first big step. Electing Hershel Walker to the Senate is next. Then all we have to do is convince Joe Manchin from West Virginia to convert to the Republican party. His state needs to get away from liberal fossil fuel haters and the Republicans will help that state big time. 

 

I am pretty sure the "lameduck" Dems in the house will try to spend a few more trillion dollars before they have to turn over the keys in January. Republicans must protect this country from any such shenanigans. 

 

Ok, job one, elect Hershel Walker. Job two, convince Joe Manchin to become a Republican. After that, the rest will be a piece of cake.

GETTING THE JOB DONE

For the past two years we, the people of the United States of America, have been subjected to the worst possible governance imaginable. We have watched as freedoms have been destroyed. We have seen our energy independence compromised almost beyond recovery by stupid, political decisions by a politician who clearly is incapable of the job of President. That has caused prices for everything to go through the roof. All the while as this was happening, our borders have been invaded by people from all around the world. Crime rates have been exploding in virtually every big city in our country. And our image in the world as the bright and shining city on the hill has definitely been tarnished. 

 

And, guess what. All of this crap can be laid right at the feet of liberals and Democrats. 

 

However, every two years our Constitution gives us a way out of the mess we sometimes get ourselves into. We get to throw the bums out. We just had such an opportunity and we didn't get the job done. One exit poll I heard showed 75% of the voters believed we were headed in the wrong direction. I agree. But, even with those sentiments, they voted to keep many of the bums in office that were causing us to go in the wrong direction. How stupid is that? We are a country of over 350 million people and we are being steadily destroyed by about 500 individuals. 

 

Over the next few weeks if you hear somebody griping about inflation, or crime, or our porous border, ask them how many Democrats they voted for. If they voted for any, they contributed to the problem. Biden was asked what he planned to change about his policies going forward. He said nothing. His belief is apparently that the citizens are okay with the mess he has gotten us into, so why should he change anything?   

 

As you might expect, I have some thoughts on this moronic reaction. The new House will have a Republican majority. That means no more Pelosi. It also means we can finally get to the bottom of the Hunter Biden/Joe Biden money scam. There is no doubt in my mind that the Bidens are compromised by bribes from world leaders, many of whom are considered enemies. That simply means that many decisions are made because they are paid for.

 

The question arises. How can we investigate anything or anybody with the Justice Dept. or the FBI that we now have?  Again, the answer is simple. We get rid of the disloyal and the crooked and replace them with honorable people and hold their feet to the fire. We are a law-and-order country and we must demand that from those we hire to run our government. 

 

Concerning the border. The fence that is currently laying unfinished and rusting in the desert is paid for. All we need to do is build it. Then, of course, we need to enforce our borders. A country is not a country without borders and borders aren't borders unless they are enforced.

 

So here's the deal Republicans, we hired you to get the job done. Get it done. Get the government boot off of the neck of the fossil fuel industry. Fire anyone in the Justice Dept and the FBI who refuse to enforce the law. Bring charges against the Bidens and anybody else who is breaking our laws. Build the fence that has already been paid for and enforce our border and our border laws. Finally get rid of any prosecutors who refuse to hold felons in jail or bring proper charges in court. We do not get to pick and choose which laws we obey. 

 

That's it. Simple enough. If you can't get it done, get another job and step aside for someone else.

KEEP YOUR MEMORIES SOFT AND SWEET

 

Keep your words soft and sweet because someday you may have to eat them. Have you ever heard that? Well, I changed it up just a bit. Keep your memories soft and sweet because someday they may have to sustain you. This column is going to be a departure from my normal ranting about politics to deal with something much more personal.  I hope you'll bear with me this one time. 

 

I just celebrated my 82nd birthday. And in about a month, Linda and I will celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary. I'm not bragging, it is just that these events play into the column I have chosen to write. 

 

First, I have never been 82 before so, in many ways, I don't know what to expect. For a certainty things are different for me now. I definitely experience more pain now than ever in my past. I move more slowly. I find an afternoon nap has become more common for me. Is this all normal? My doctor doesn't know or at least he won't say.  When I was very young, there were few older people for me to talk to and even fewer of them were men. I knew they were slow to move around but they didn't complain about pain. They must have been tougher than me. I have pain in places that I didn't even know I had places.

 

I have also become aware that the foods I have enjoyed my whole life now have a tendency to bite me back. I can remember sitting down and eating a whole pizza by myself. No more. A couple slices of a medium pizza and I am stuffed. Not only that but everything I eat or drink seems to show up on my semi-annual blood test. It was only after I became an old man that I had ever heard of A1c and what it was all about. Well, I know now.

 

A lot of things have changed in my life to be sure. So, what is my future to be? Am I relegated to sitting in my easy chair and watching the world go by? I know beyond a doubt that I won't be running over mountains chasing deer and elk anymore.  I do well to walk out to the car. So what do I do to sustain myself? 

 

The answer turns out to be really quite simple. I now have to rely on my memories. While I can't chase a deer over a mountain anymore, I can certainly remember when I did. I can also remember eating the game which I harvested. The deer, the elk, the pheasants, and the many other wild game species I was fortunate enough to take. Those memories are certainly sweet. You'd have to admit though it's much easier opening a package of steak from the grocery store than chasing an animal down, shooting it, dressing it, then carrying it several thousand yards down a mountain. 

 

It is good to have these memories now. My life, our life, has been memorable. We will spend our remaining time here happy with our lives. It has definitely been sweet.

WE MAY HAVE TO IMPEACH NOW

I watched as Biden recently announced that he was doing everything in his power to bring prices down. That is either a complete lie or a statement of absolute incompetence. When he first took office he set about canceling everything Trump. He stopped the Keystone pipeline. He halted offshore oil exploration. He stopped fracking. He declared war on the fossil fuel industry. He and his minions actually believed if Trump did it, it had to be canceled. He stopped the border fence and basically threw open the gates of this country to the entire world. After all, that was a Trump program so it had to be bad. I think these morons truly believed in what they were doing. That shows their ignorance and now this whole country is paying the price. 

 

We, the voters, put these clowns in office so we have only ourselves to blame. This should be a big lesson. When a candidate hides in his basement during his campaign for office, and the media allows him to get away with it, you can count on the fact that his subsequent election will be a disaster.

 

Today we don't know who really is running our government. Biden cannot put enough words together to make a coherent sentence, so it isn't him. Incidentally, neither can Harris.  We are finally learning to some extent China's involvement in our policies. Because of Hunter Biden's active selling of influence to China, Russia and others, we don't know just how much Biden is compromised. 

 

Why hasn't our Justice Dept. been getting to the bottom of this corruption? Over the next few days and weeks we are going to learn how much we have been sold down the river. The Bidens have all become millionaires and we the people are getting shafted. 

 

We have been living with an insidious disease and it is about to be healed. When the Republicans take back the Congress in November, number one on their list should be to fire the entire upper echelon of the FBI and the Justice Dept. Their replacements should then begin immediately seeking indictments for all of those who participated in the corruption of our government, regardless of their position. We don't have a two-tiered justice system. You don't get a "get out of jail free card" just because of your position. That goes for the President or anybody else. 

 

So, what's next? I have been seeing bumper stickers on cars calling for the impeachment of Joe Biden. I wouldn't have thought that possible with Harris and Pelosi waiting in the wings. Maybe it is just getting too serious to leave him in office. 

 

Putin and Biden are actively trying to stoke up a nuclear war which would result in millions dead. Both of these clowns are just plain crazy. Hopefully the Russians will take their clown out before the world has to eliminate Russia from the map. I am sure they hope we get rid of our clown as well. Right now I don't think we can wait until 2024.

IF YOU VOTE DEMOCRAT

We are getting closer to the midterm elections which brings out the best and the worst in people. Just a few months ago the media was forecasting a landslide win for Republicans. The closer we get to the election the more the so-called polls seem to favor the Democrats. What changed? Well one of the things that changed was the liberals got scared and had to change the polls thinking that would change the outcome of the election. 

 

I recognize that most of the regular readers of this blog will vote Republican. But you may know someone on the other side. It is my hope that you might share these thoughts with them to see if they truly understand what their vote means. 

 

If you vote for any Democrat candidate you are saying you are okay with 25% inflation and worse. That of course means 4- and 5-dollar gasoline prices as well as winter fuel oil prices through the roof. Some people will have to choose between heating their homes and eating. In America? Are you kidding me? The inflation we are experiencing was caused simply by stupid liberal policies and programs. Contrary to what Biden is saying, Trump had nothing to do with today's inflation. Had Trump won in the last election we would not be facing fuel prices like we have. In fact, we would be energy independent and would be selling our excess to Europe and others. We would not be facing the prices we are seeing at the grocery store. This all happened after Biden decided to screw up everything Trump had created. His war on fossil fuel started it all. 

 

If you vote Democrat, you are saying it is okay for millions of illegal aliens from all over the world to trespass into our country bringing their diseases, their poverty, and all their problems with them. You are saying it's okay for them to bring illegal drugs that are killing Americans by the thousands. 

 

In no particular order let's see what else has been foisted on this country by Democrats. The FBI and the State Dept. have been weaponized by this administration to go after any possible opponent in 2024. Even if they can't actually bring any criminal prosecution, they are going to keep trying to defame any opposition to Biden. 

 

Another little problem with politicizing government agencies is it becomes almost impossible to prosecute actual criminals like possibly Hunter Biden, Joe Biden and any other Bidens who might be taking huge checks from China or any other possible foe of this country. Hunter Biden has been selling access to Joe Biden for years. And they have been getting away with it. Every day that Hillary Clinton spends as a free person is an insult to America. She should have been jailed years ago. 

 

These are but a few of the problems we experience with Democrats in charge. Is this the country you want? Is this what you voted for? 

 

The head of the Federal Reserve said recently that to overcome inflation we all must experience pain. So, to lower prices the government has to raise the cost of money.  Hmmmm.  It must make sense to somebody. Just not to me. It seems counter productive to me to destroy the wealth of millions of Americans which is what raising the interest rate causes, in order to reduce prices.  We saw what happened when Alan Greenspan did it a few years ago.  Here's a thought. Why don't we just unscrew the Biden screw ups. Let's restart the Keystone pipeline. Let's close and secure our border. Leave the coal miners alone. Let's require able-bodied people to work. Today there are more jobs available than people to fill them. Let's put this country back to where it was when Trump left. 

 

Finally, let's return to common sense. Send the Democrats packing and put adults back in charge.

A LOT ON MY MIND

There are a lot of things on my mind this week. I try to pick one subject and cover as much as I can. But sometimes it just builds up. 

 

Let's start with this. Now I understand politics has always been a dirty business but, doesn't there come a point where politicians should think of our country first and put their party on the back burner? A poll just released showed a majority of respondents believe the future of America is in jeopardy because of liberal policies. Inflation is killing our economy. Our southern border is completely unsecure. To hear Biden, you would think everything is going just the way he wants it. Is he that stupid? Is he that tone deaf? That silly little press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, is a joke. Even the Democrats, through their media partners, seem less than enthused by her ridiculous answers. 

 

The Texas Governor and the Florida Governor are rounding illegals up and sending them to northern blue states who claim to be sanctuary states only to be met by screams of foul. Texas gets thousands of illegals every day and Martha's Vineyard gets less than a hundred. And they blame Texas for their influx of illegals who were supposed to be welcome anyway. Isn't that what sanctuary means? I'm pretty sure these liberal "progressives" never thought they would actually see an illegal alien except for the gardener or maybe the housekeeper let alone a whole busload. 

 

The brilliant governor of California wants to have Florida and Texas governors arrested for kidnapping. I've said it before and I'll say it again, what a moron. He should be arrested for impersonating a governor. 

 

Did you hear what the Democrat governor of Illinois is bringing to his poor state in 2023? No cash bail. He intends to release murderers, kidnappers, rapists, and numerous other perpetrators back on the street without holding them in jail until their trial. Now does anybody with the brainpower of stale bread believe these thugs are going to show up for trial? Also, does anybody actually believe these criminals are going to suddenly become good citizens and not continue in their life of crime? People are going to continue to die in the streets of Chicago and other formerly great cities of that idiotic state. And the numbers will grow. Where do people like this governor come from? How about the mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot? Are you kidding me? And how do these idiots get elected?

 

The Eighth Amendment to the Constitution allows for cash bail. It also forbids excessive bail and cruel punishment. Nowhere in our Constitution is there any allocation for reduced cash or no cash bail because the perpetrator can't afford it. Just more progressive nonsense. You wonder how they might feel if one of these thugs they release shows up at their house in the middle of the night. They might reconsider.

 

And finally, we are now being told there will be a social security cola increase for next year of about 8 or 9 percent. Wow, thank you social security. I don't know about you, but my costs of everything started exploding about a year ago and it's well more that 8 or 9 percent. It is more like 20 to 25%. It all began when Biden canceled the Keystone pipeline and stopped oil and coal exploration in this country. My readers will remember that I predicted this would be the beginning of massive inflation. I wish I hadn't been so accurate. If recipients do get a nice increase, they will be behind at least a year. The purpose of SSA Cola is to keep senior retirees on an even keel with everybody else and keep up with the cost of living. Oops, pretty obvious that ain't working.

WISHING WILL NOT MAKE IT SO

2035 is going to be a banner year for the state of California. The esteemed, nearly recalled Governor, Gavin Newsom, of that once great state has decreed that by 2035 all new cars sold in California will have to be electric. Absolutely no fossil fueled cars can be sold.

 

I have a few observations and questions. So, is this the same state which regularly suffers rolling blackouts because too many people turn on their air conditioners at the same time? What would happen if several million people turned on their ACs and attempted to recharge their electric cars at the same time? Recent reports also reveal that they would need at least a million charging stations to have any chance of dealing with that number of electric cars. 

 

California also has regular forest and brush fires that interrupt power transmission. That would be a big problem. 

 

Here's another question. What about the diesel powered semis that haul goods all over the country? Will they be allowed in California? If not, how will California ship their produce and goods to other parts of the country? How would they receive goods from other parts of the country?

 

I haven't even mentioned ships coming into that state's ports. Or the gillions of airplanes that take off and land there or the trains that regularly come and go.

 

I think you all are getting the big picture here. I learned very early in life a simple truth. Wishing will not make it so. 

 

Someday in the future I believe we will probably have new and different power sources. I don't know if our cars will be electric. It would make sense. But, and this is a big but, we would have to be ready for the change. It is not going to happen overnight. It will take years to establish the necessary charging stations and to reduce the time it takes to recharge. The price of these new vehicles is going to have to come down and come down a lot. 

 

Personally I would love to have an electric car. As long as I can travel from place to place without running out of battery before I can find a charger. Also, as long as I can replace my battery without having to take out a mortgage on my home. They cost almost as much as the cars. By the way, the last hurricane we had shut the power off for several days. Can you imagine the problem that would cause? 

 

We need leaders who understand how much fossil fuel is necessary to produce electricity. 

 

Simply put, we need leaders with common sense. Newsom's declaration will look sillier and sillier as we get nearer to 2035. He's running for President and his own family is sending money to his possible opponent and has moved to Florida. What does that tell you? He came very close to being recalled by his own state. 

 

If electric cars are our future, fine. But we have to be ready and we are not close. And…wishing will not make it so.

UPDATE….Newsome was on TV last week asking people to not charge their cars for a while. With the hot summer, they are running out of power. Hmmmmm…. could this be an omen of things to come? What a moron.
