WHO IS IN CHARGE?

This column will be a departure from my normal political rants. I am directing this to that growing group of "climate change" worshipers. They are the ones who believe humans are in charge of nature instead of nature being in charge.

I was looking in my neighbor's backyard and witnessed a raccoon which appeared to be in trouble. It was rolling around and just seemed not to be right. After a while it stopped and just laid still. I figured it must have died. I went on to bed as usual.

The next morning I looked out and saw probably twelve to fifteen buzzards. Maybe six were feeding on the raccoon carcass with the rest idly sitting on the roof. Soon a few flew down to feed and shoo away the ones there. They returned to the roof. This rotation continued for most of the day and the raccoon disappeared.

There was nothing going on that wasn't normal. But it raised some questions in my mind. First, this area is a tree covered neighborhood with kids and people everywhere. It is certainly not out in the wild. It would be difficult to see the ground from the air due to the tree cover. Plus most of the action happened after dark.

Now, unless I am mistaken, racoons don't have obituary pages in the newspapers. Also, I don't think buzzards have internet service or gmail. So, how did they discover the dead raccoon so quickly as well as gather a crowd to assist? This then is the true revelation of who is in charge of nature. Clue, it ain't humans.

It is clearly obvious that buzzards are tasked by nature to remove carrion. All animals are going to die. Removal of carrion is nature's way of getting rid of disease-bearing dead creatures. And aren't we glad of it. Humans are smart enough to bury their dead. Lesser animals are not so fortunate.

And so to those of you who think humans are in charge, consider this. The buzzards in the dark of night found the poor hapless raccoon and dispatched the entire carcass in one day. Humans had nothing to do with it. And it happens every day somewhere.

Nature, or God as I prefer to identify it, is in charge. Humans, like buzzards and raccoons, are merely residents of this great earth and as such are subject to the laws of nature. I think it is good for all of us to be reminded of that at times.

NOTHING PROGRESSIVE ABOUT IT

In my several years on this earth I have learned a lot and I have forgotten a lot. I think that's pretty normal. One should expect a person in their eighties to possess some wisdom. I can only use myself as an example. I know a lot more today than I knew in my thirties or forties. But I also know that physically I have slowed down considerably.

I bring this up because we are facing our next election with the possibility of having to choose between two octogenarians. No doubt through their years they have acquired wisdom and knowledge but, how have they fared physically?

Today I think Trump is in better physical shape than Biden, don't you? I understand people age in different ways. I have known some very elderly people who could run rings around me and others of my age. As I think about it, that wouldn't take very much.

All that having been said, I want someone who can sit down face to face with some very bad actors and not blink. It does us no good to have the best military in the world if we are afraid to use them. I want other countries in the world to consider that before they fire rockets at our soldiers or our ships. Today we have a bunch of goat herders attacking the most powerful nation on earth and getting away with it. That's just ridiculous.

I don't believe this is because of Biden's age. I think it is more just being overly weak and cautious and to a fault. I don't believe these attacks would be happening with Trump or someone like him in the White House.

I'm not advocating war. We just need to flex our muscles on occasion. If our enemies don't fear us, they are emboldened to try us. They need to fear retaliation.

This column is about aging, not war, but tired old men should be sitting in front of their fireplaces, not contemplating the defense of a country.

Where are the young, ambitious politicians who can fill the boots of Ronald Reagan? We need patriots who love America. We need people who see us as a city on a hill. We don't need people who want us to be like Europeans. We are free people and we will choose leaders who understand that.

I don't know about you but I have had a belly full of "progressive" politics. Besides, there's nothing progressive about it.

WE NEED TO GET SERIOUS

Iran seems intent on poking at the sleeping bear. They are financing attacks by their minions all over the world. What they are really doing is trying to provoke America into retaliation. I hope they succeed in that provocation.

Finally the Biden Administration has awakened to this fact. I wonder what the conversation must be like in the oval office. My speculation is a possible effective response in their minds. I believe one of the administration's underlings suggested a nasty letter to Iran. Another says, not too nasty. They might get offended. We don't want to upset them. They might just get more aggressive. Some might see it as our attempt to start a world war. Others might say, we should just forget it and let it blow over. After all, they only killed three service members. The media will soon be after something else and the American people will forget it. Remember the whole world will be watching what we do.

I wonder what our reaction would be if Trump was in the White House. First, I believe if Trump was our president Iran would've never sent their bomb to kill our soldiers in the first place. But what if I'm wrong and they did it anyway. I think Trump would take out three cities in Iran and then send a letter. That letter would be short and sweet, not nasty. It would suggest that any future aggression on their part would be met with even worse than a mere three cities.

You may remember that it was the Obama Administration which released the billions to Iran that they are using to finance all this mayhem. The world is paying dearly for this screw-up.

What Biden and his underlings can't seem to understand is that Iran is our enemy. That is and has been their choice. We can't negotiate with them. We can't make deals with them. They only understand force. For the sake of the world we need to show Iran and the rest of the tin horn dictators out there that we are through putting up with their aggression. A nasty letter won't get it done. We need to get serious.
