RANDOM GRIPES ON VARIOUS THINKGS

This column will cover a lot of things. As many of you know, I have been somewhat sidelined by a medical issue. That has given me a lot of television time. I believe I have seen just about every reality cop show ever produced. One thing seems to be common in these shows. Most of the bad guys are career? criminals. Even though many are very young, they often have long criminal records. When they are out doing dirty deeds, they actually should have been in jail. Why are they out? What crimes do you have to do to be punished by extended prison time? It's a fair question especially for the victims of their crimes. Too often our judicial system seems to look for ways to make deals and plea bargains with criminals to keep from going to court. Are our prosecutors so incompetent that they cannot present a proper case? Even when prison sentences are handed down by juries and judges, parole boards seem to look for ways to put these bad guys back on the street to victimize others. We need better. Crime shouldn't pay.

The Democrats are worried about a possible third-party candidate. They should be. Regardless of who the Republicans run, Biden will still be the same. He is too old, too fragile, too incompetent, and probably too crooked to serve as our president. We, the people, yes even the free world, deserve better.

Speaking of deserving better, the Justice Dept. and the FBI need to return to their mission and their mission is not to protect the party in power. Criminals like Hunter Biden and probably other close members of the Biden family, need to be indicted and publicly tried in a court of law. We do not have two sets of laws. The politicians and their families are not exempt. Orange jumpsuits all around.

There is a lot of conversation in the very liberal media about Trump. If even half of it was true, I could understand their breathless concern. The problem is that most of it probably isn't true. The ultra liberal media apparently doesn't see the need any longer to check and verify before they report.

Regardless of whom the Republicans nominate, that person would be a far better choice than another four years of mumbling, stumbling, Joe Biden. I have watched him and he is getting worse. I know what eighty plus years do to someone. You don't get better, you just get older.

My final gripe is the media overreaction to our weather. Here in southern Georgia the temperatures are in the 90s with high humidity. We call it summer. My son lives in Alaska. He has temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Up there they call it summer. I have a good friend who lives in the desert region of Southern California. Their temperatures are in the low 100s. Out there they call it summer.

Now, climate change being what it is, summer will come to an end and temperatures will moderate. In a few short weeks Southern Georgia will be in the 50s and 60s. Alaska will be in the teens with snow and ice. Southern California will be in the 60s and 70s. In each of these places we will call it winter.

To the breathless media I would counsel, relax. Very soon you will be able to alert your audience to the cold. In some cases it will be bitterly cold. To you, my readers, as you face this summer, I think we can say with some certainty, the Ice Age is over.

And so it goes. I can always find something to gripe about. It's what I do.
