YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE, NOW DEAL WITH IT

There is no doubt that impeachment of a President has always been a political act designed to remove that president from office. It is a weapon wielded by the opposing party. No real crime has to be committed. The House can invent any reason they choose to impeach. Just like the so-called crime they came up with for this latest impeachment. The Senate then conducts a trial to see if they can convict. If they can rally enough support, they can get rid of a President that they couldn't defeat at the ballot box.

Biden has been elected President. Fairly or not, he now holds that office. President Trump left office on January 20. So, why impeach him again? The primary reason is that his enemies, both Democrat and Republican are afraid of him. If he is convicted by the Senate, he will not be able to run again in 2024. That is the real reason this impeachment is happening.

There's a problem for the Democrats and the “rinos" however. That is the seventy-five million people who voted for Trump in 2020. They are not going away nor are they going to just stand by and watch this country being destroyed by socialists.

Trump's favorable ratings have not gone down even in light of this latest political attack. His supporters support him and his policies. That support is not going to do anything but grow as the country suffers through more leftist nonsense.

This all reminds me a bit of Sir Winston Churchill. He was a master statesman and politician. He also almost single handedly saved his country during WWII. His was the voice of calm and encouragement. He was England's backbone when they needed it. He was England's cheerleader. He held them all together when many wanted to give up.

How was he rewarded for his accomplishments? His country turned their backs on him after the war was over. I guess they didn't think he was necessary anymore. It was shameful, but it was reality.

Here we have Donald Trump who gave up a billionaire's lifestyle to become the target of every tinhorn media hack and self-serving politician in Washington. He accomplished more for this country in one term than most do in two. And he did it while under constant attack. In my lifetime I have never seen anything like it.

What now is his reward? The deep state is trying to tarnish him further so as to prevent him from ever running again. This country turned their back on him. I heard his speech to the people who raided the Capitol. He didn't incite anything and the Dems know it. This is just another hoax.

I don't think Trump has any plan to ever expose himself again. Why should he? He has given his all and he has been under constant attack. If I were Trump, I would take my beautiful wife and my family and return to my life of luxury and I wouldn't even answer the phone or return any calls. I would say to the country, you had your chance and you blew it. Now, deal with it.

Going forward I plan to continue sharing my thoughts about the effort of the left to change this country into a socialist pig sty. Did you hear the head of MSNBC and Katie Couric? They opined that Trump supporters belong to a cult and must be reeducated. I suppose they plan to establish camps to have socialist garbage stuffed down our throats. Well guess what, morons. It ain't ever gonna happen. You have the wrong country. Millions died because of this kind of communist crap. This is America and it is fine just the way it is. Deal with it.

IF WE ARE LOUD ENOUGH, THEY WILL HEAR US

This is a dangerous time for our country. Regardless of your political preference, this is a time to just relax and let it all play out. Like many of you I would rather see Trump as President for the next four years, but that is not going to happen. Biden has been elected and the Democrats will take over this week.

To me there is some good to be found in that. The entire country will see what we have been saying all along. Socialism will not work. Not because we will sabotage the new government, but because it has never worked. As Margaret Thatcher famously said, eventually you run out of other people's money. There will be no "green new deal". There will be no defunding of police. In fact, most of the campaign promises that were offered will not come to fruition.

Why? Because there are some intelligent Democrats also. While Schumer and Pelosi have the numbers, they don't have the blanket submission they would need to make the changes they think they want.

In fact, I think the next four years will be marked mostly by slow to no growth, increased unemployment, and more unrest in the world as China tests their strength and our unwillingness to deter them.

In the election two years from now the Democrats will probably lose their majority in the House and maybe in the Senate also as the economy, which prospered under Trump, falters under Biden.

There will doubtless be a flood of illegal immigrants coming across our southern border. The legal residents there are going to object loudly. Our Representatives will hear them. They will have to re-look at Trump's solutions and probably re-institute some of them, including the fence.

Some who read this will not agree. Some seem bent on fighting the outcome of this election. As I see it, we have just a very few options. My view has been offered in the first few lines of this column. Another option is to sit around and gripe and be a victim. I don't think that will accomplish much. Some folks decided the best option was to rush the Capitol and interrupt the work of the Congress. Five people died, one being a police officer, and several have been arrested with more arrests yet to happen. Looks pretty unproductive to me.

One final response is to go to war. It has happened before. As I have written, we are a country born out of revolution. The question is, do we have the stomach for a shooting war over this election? Thousands of innocent people would be killed. The entire country would be trashed and our economy would take generations to recover. And in the final analysis there would be no winner. Only losers.

We live in the finest country on earth. We have legal remedies for cheating and unfairness. Our citizens are some of the best people alive. We are generous to a fault. With some few exceptions we are law abiding, God fearing lovers of freedom. To put it mildly, we have come too far to throw it all away.

The proper way to deal with our dissatisfaction over this election is through the next election. If Silicon Valley wants to interfere with it, we have the power to put them out of business. We just stop using their products. We don't need to riot and lower ourselves to their level. We just need to work harder and elect real, traditional Americans to office.

The future is up to us. Make sure your Representatives hear from you whether you voted for them or not. If we are loud enough, they will hear.

DEMOCRATS, KEEP YOUR SHIRTS ON

If you are like me, the demonstration/riot in DC Wednesday was terrible. I was surprised that normal sane followers of Trump, even upset, would react the way they did. If I had not seen the MAGA hats I would have thought it was an antifa riot. They look the same. There are reports out now that the Trump people were infiltrated by some of the usual suspects. Investigations are under way to learn the truth.

So what was accomplished? Did the election of Biden get thrown out? Of course not. Did the fact that the Democrats now have control of our entire government change? Obviously, no. I understand five people died in the riot. Windows were broken. Furniture was broken or stolen. In other words, it was a looting raid by some seriously unhappy people and possibly organized thugs.

Trump will be blamed. The media will crucify him again. Democrats and some Republicans will line up and condemn him. It is obvious that even sane Republicans are capable of ugly behavior and violence just like the thugs we all have criticized for years.

Count me among those who wished it didn't happen, but it did. So, is it possible that any good can come from this? I will offer some thoughts for your consideration.

Let's say you are Chuck Schumer and you are looking at ultra-liberal legislation being foisted on the Congress by the so-called progressives. As you look at this bill, you know it is going to be despised by the half of the country who supported Trump and his policies. Will the raid come to your mind? Might you back off a bit? I think those are reasonable questions.

What exactly were these rioters upset about? It is pretty obvious that they believe the election was stolen. It did look very suspicious.  As a traditional American and a Republican, I have some questions too. Like, which party is the only party who opposes refreshing voter rolls and eliminating deceased voters as well as those who have moved to other states. Which party opposes voter ID? Here's a hint, it isn't the Republican party.

Like all Americans I also want every legal vote to count. But, a vote by a dead person is not a legal vote. A vote by an illegal alien is not a legal vote. A vote by an unregistered voter is not a legal vote. Finally, a vote by mail should not be seen as an opportunity to vote twice by also voting in person.

Why do the Dems oppose these simple regulations? Is it possible that they know they cannot win in a legitimate election? Just asking.

Now the big push is to deny us all the remaining few days of a Trump Administration. He is being assailed from every lefty news organization. Pelosi insists that he be impeached again. She knows the Senate will never go along with her nonsense, but that won't deter her.

I recently watched a TV show about a veterinarian in the Yukon treating a bull musk ox. She had to anesthetize the big guy to work on him. She warned that once the bull is down, she had to keep all other musk ox away from him because they would attack the big bull if they thought he was wounded.

It reminded me of what is going on in Washington. The swamp denizens think Trump is wounded so they attack. They may want to remember the seventy-five million voters who just voted for him. Trump, while somewhat wounded, is not alone.

Democrats, keep your shirts on. Relax. Be careful. In a few days you'll have your wish….for a short time.

CAN WE KEEP IT?

I am looking forward to Wednesday. That will be the day after the runoff election here in Georgia to determine the balance of power in the Senate. It is hard to believe how much money has been spent on ads, phone calls, and mailings. Most Georgians are sick of all of it. I certainly am.

If the Democrats win these two seats, they will secure an advantage because the Vice President votes in the event of a tie. Harris, like most Dems, will do as she is told. Schumer has already said that if they take Georgia, they plan to change this country completely. From what I have seen and heard, it won't be pretty.

Well, there is good news. If they do as they have warned, it will not last long. Sane people all over the world know socialism doesn't work. It never has and it never will. At best they will have two years until the next election where the people can unwind the mess.

Well, it is now Wednesday morning and some things are quite clear. The Democrats have won at least one seat and they lead in the other. Georgia has been a red state for as long as I can remember but that seems to be changing. Must be a lot of yankees moving down here.

Another matter is also clear. Money talks and quite loudly for sure. Millions were sent to Georgia to buy the votes. Most of that money came from Silicon Valley. It has been impossible to turn on the television without seeing ad after ad pushing these candidates. My mailbox has been stuffed with slick mailers in an attempt to try to affect the vote.

And, speaking of money, the Democrat candidates virtually guaranteed $2000 checks to everyone if they were elected. Schumer parroted that idea. Majority Leader McConnell pretty much gave the race to the Dems by refusing to go forward with those same $2000 checks for Covid relief. President Trump rightfully said that McConnell was committing suicide by refusing to offer the plan for a vote. Turns out that's exactly what happened.

So, where do we go from here? Will we become a socialist state? Has everything we have worked and sacrificed for been destroyed? Ben Franklin famously said we have a Republic, if we can keep it. Now I ask, can we keep it?

Last evening I was having a discussion/debate with my son-in-law about the future of this country. He believes our guns will be confiscated and the military will be responsible for that confiscation. My position is that there is no way the gun owners of this country will allow this. Also, the military would not follow any such order. We all should remember this country was born out of revolution. If there was ever an effort to take our guns away, there would be another serious revolt.

Here is the reality. Our country is split now between the producers and the dependents. The Republicans are the producers. If they don't produce, the dependents don't eat. That's not going to change just because of some politician or some media organized attempt to subvert our Constitution.

The next few months are going to be interesting to say the least, but we will not turn our country over to slug politicians. We have a vaccine for the virus, and we have an upcoming election to cure socialism. Get your shot and be sure to vote.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I think I just heard a collective sigh of relief. 2020 is finally coming to an end. What a year it has been. Let's take a quick look at what we have been through and what, possibly, we have next to deal with. But for now I will just say, wow, what a year.

First, let's look on the bright side. We have a vaccine. By early spring everyone who wants the shot will get the shot. We, as a group, will have "herd" immunity and this particular ugly little virus will have been kicked to the curb. Covid will rapidly just become an ugly memory. That should take care of one of our problems.

Our next problem will not be so easy to deal with. That being a Joe Biden presidency. Personally I believe he is up to his ears in illegal dealings with foreign governments. I also believe all of this will soon be proven for all the world to see. Biden's future has yet to be decided. How will we deal with this? I cannot answer that question.

That brings us to our next problem. Kamala Harris. Is there any sane individual in this country who honestly thinks she could actually fulfill the job of President of the USA, the most powerful person in the world? Not me. Pure nonsense.

This country is going to be tested yet again because today we are two countries separated by politics. One side, the Republicans, who believe in the traditional America. A law-and-order country governed by a Constitution which has served us since our beginning. A country whose people are willing to work and be responsible for their own destiny.

That other country seems to want to change our system of government into European socialism. They apparently believe that the money supply will never run out. They want to eliminate police departments, open our borders to anybody who wants to show up. I think they have this idea that if everything was legal, we wouldn't have any crime and therefore no need for police departments. They want everyone to be dependent on the government. In addition, they want to eliminate private gun ownership.

Well, I have some bad news for them. Their pipe dream is never going to happen. The people who own guns are not going to "turn them in" or sell them back to the government, or any other silliness the liberals can come up with. One doesn't have to look far to find countries where guns were confiscated. Armed people are citizens. Disarmed people are subjects. Those of us who own guns know that well and we will choose to continue being citizens, not subjects.

So here comes 2021. How will it be different? Will it be different? This virus has shown us clearly how vulnerable we are. Tin horn politicians have shown us clearly how easily they can become dictators. Sadly, we have shown them how easily we can be bulldozed by "executive orders" that even most police departments won't enforce.

The future is truly up to us. I do not believe we can continue on the path we are on. Matters are going to arise early in the new year which will test our resolve.

But we have been tested before. We survived Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Can we survive Joe Biden? Of course we can and will. Remember in just two years we will have another election. That will be our opportunity to set things right again. I don't know if Biden will last that long, but hopefully he can't cause that much damage in such a short time.

In the meantime keep the faith. Thursday will be the year 2020 and Friday will be 2021. If 2021 is a better year, it will be up to us. Have a great new year, get your shot, and stay healthy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

It will soon be Christmas. I know what it means and I trust you do as well. It has always been my favorite time of the year. I love the greeting, "Merry Christmas". It is cheery and bright. Who couldn't love such a greeting? Well, I found out.

A few years ago I served as Chairman for a discussion and coffee group. I decided one year to invite a Jewish professor to our discussion to explain the Hanukkah holiday. She came and did a great job of explaining that tradition. During the question and answer period I asked what I thought was an innocent question. When someone greets you with Merry Christmas, I asked, does that offend you? I admit I was not prepared for her answer. She said she most definitely was offended by that greeting. She was even repulsed by it. And not only the greeting but all of our Christmas traditions.  The trees, the lights, the music, and all of it.

After a bit of ranting we moved on to other subjects and I was left to wonder at what we had just experienced. Who could take offense at this innocent but heartfelt greeting?

I came away from that discussion feeling sorry for that lady. I also don't plan to get her any presents. I will however, continue to offer the greeting “Merry Christmas” to anyone I see during this time of year. I do not plan on asking their religious preference beforehand either. If they are offended, they have my sympathy.

Is it just me, or are people more prone to being offended these days? When I greet someone with a seasonal greeting, it is not intended to offend. On the contrary it is offered for what it is. Just a cheery hello. I have never sought to determine the religious affiliation of the person I was greeting, if any. It doesn't matter to me.

Of course you remember Ben Stein, a very funny, yet extremely intelligent man. Ben is also very Jewish as are all his ancestors. He was asked a similar question about Christmas. He said he loved the season and all its traditions. He is especially fond of "bejeweled, tinsel covered", his words, trees. He also loved that they were called Christmas trees.

I am sure you are aware that some people choose to call them "holiday" trees. Well they are but the holiday is Christmas and no amount of political correct nonsense will ever change that.

So then. In this free country you are free to celebrate any holiday tradition you wish or to not celebrate at all. As for me and my house we will celebrate Christmas as the birthday of Jesus and we will keep the traditions of centuries before us.

To you, with no offense intended or implied, we wish a very Merry Christmas and the hope that your new year will be healthy and happy as well.

HERE COMES THE POSSE

Here comes the vaccine. Here comes the posse that will rid us of this terrible scourge. The creation of this medicine is a virtual miracle. Never has our government moved this quickly.

All during the Presidential campaign we were told that Trump had no plan to deal with this mess. They were clearly wrong, but what else is new. The Democrats should apologize for their rhetoric, but of course they won't. Fortunately, we have a bit of time to distribute the vaccine before Biden takes the reins. Hopefully we can get it to the majority of our citizens before the Dems mess things up.

Our next political contest is, of course, the runoff election in Georgia. All I want, and I believe most of the people of this country want, is an honest election. Did you hear me Stacy Abrams? Stay out of this. Everything you touch has a stench about it.

We all know what is at stake. Basically the future of this Republic. And if we have learned nothing else from this "pandemic", it is that our republic is very fragile. It is hard for me to believe how many governors, mayors, and local administrators could become dictators so quickly and that the people would allow it.

This vaccine is happening just in time because it is clear that the good citizens of this country are fed up with the arbitrary rules and regulations issued by officials who have no authority to issue such rules. The moronic mayor of New York City just warned there could be a complete shutdown of restaurants and bars for maybe a couple of months. If he honestly thinks that's going to happen, he might be dumber than even I think. Any law or regulation is only as good as people's willingness to obey or the State's ability to enforce. Like I just said earlier, the people are fed up.

I just hope we can be patient just a bit longer. All this crap will be behind us soon and we will return to normal, whatever that means.

And to the would-be emperors and czars who decided they would make laws and pass edicts. Your days are numbered. If you want to make laws, get elected to a legislative body. That's where laws are made. Enjoy your last few days in the limelight because you will soon be relegated to the trash heap of bad choices.

The next situation which will be front and center for all of us is the economy. There will be a bump in activity in the near future which will make it appear that we are back but it is going to take a while to recover. No doubt an aid package from our government would be helpful. Time will tell if that is forthcoming. Anyone who understands basic economics knows any money put into the hands of the people who suffered at the expense of government regulations will be spent and put right back into the economy. Restaurants didn't close down because they wanted to. They closed because the government forced them to. It is now time that same government came to their aid.

In the meantime I counsel patience. This too will pass.
